Sunday Night Teacher Reset routine (the low-pressure version)

Let’s be honest. Sunday night can feel heavy. The mental checklist starts running. The to-do list gets louder. And suddenly you’re questioning every lesson you’ve ever planned.

But here’s the thing: I’m a type-b teacher. I don’t do 4-hour Sunday prep marathons. I don’t color code my week. And I refuse to let Sunday steal my peace.

So, here’s my low-pressure Sunday reset routine. The one that keeps me prepared without feeling overwhelmed.

The 2o-min Brain Sweep

Set a timer for 20 minutes and write down:

  • what absolutely must get done

  • what would be nice to get done

  • what can wait

No organizing. No overthinking. Just clearing the mental clutter. Most weeks, the “must” list is shorter than my anxiety tried to convince me it was.

Preview, Don’t Perfect

Instead of rewriting every lesson, just preview the week.

  • What’s the main goal?

  • Where might students struggle?

  • Do I have materials ready?

I don’t script everything. I just make sure future me isn’t walking in blind. Good enough is the goal!

one Tiny Classroom Prep Task

Just one.

Maybe it’s

  • Laying out copies—well, more like prepping them to print out first thing Monday morning for me, but maybe you have them ready to lay out.

  • Prepping Monday’s materials

  • Tidying your desk, work bag, or home workspace (lightly…let’s not get wild)

Protect Sunday Night Energy

After that? I’m done.

I light a candle. Read. Watch something easy. Go to bed at a decent time (well, I try at least).

A calm teacher on Monday is more powerful than a perfectly prepped one.

Teach. Learn. Inspire. NOT Stress. Spiral. Exhaust
